We are seeking candidates with civil/mechanical engineering backgrounds to participate in the design and construction of mining projects in the Southwest US and elsewhere. Knowledge of detailed hydraulic/fluid mechanics engineering fundamentals is mandatory.
Project work requires skills and training pertinent to civil engineering design, structural design, and hydraulic design. Travel within the United States will be necessary for some field assignments. The expected work will include office-based engineering design and field work. Appropriate on-the-job training will be provided.
This individual will be responsible for:
Performing field investigations for civil projects under specific work instructions, including scheduling field work for specific scopes of work provided by senior colleagues, executing field assignments, and understanding health and safety issues associated with the work. \
Performing construction monitoring services under senior direction. This work includes observation and documentation of construction activities, materials sampling, coordination with testing laboratories, and performing field tests.
Performing civil/mechanical engineering calculations and analyses using hand and computer-based tools under senior direction.
Assisting with the preparation of technical reports, including writing sections of reports, preparing figures and tables, and working with drafting and reproduction staff to produce final reports under senior direction.
Performing other engineering activities as directed.
Developing permit, design, and construction drawings using computer aided drafting platforms (e.g., AutoCAD).
Master's degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering with 0-5 years of relevant work experience preferred
Strong geotechnical soils laboratory skills and field skills such as core logging, soil sampling, and groundwater sampling
Strong computer skills and experience with industry standard commercial computer software including: Microsoft Office, AutoCAD/Civil3D, and various mining and geo-engineering software (i.e. slope stability, sheet pile walls, etc.)
Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills, problem solving skills, and a positive attitude as well as the ability to work both independently and on teams
Willingness to perform a variety of tasks as needed to complete an assignment and satisfy project demands
Spanish and English speaking preferred
