About this opportunity: The Workday Business Solutions Team has an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate to Senior Business Systems Analyst. Reporting to the Group Lead, Workday Business Solutions, as an ideal candidate you will have Business Systems Analyst experience supporting Human Resources, as well experience with Workday. This opportunity will appeal to an individual who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and who demonstrates effective critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

This position is a full time, permanent position, located in our downtown Calgary office.

Core Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of the Sr Business Systems Analyst role include:

  • Plan, test and support system releases and maintenance windows
  • Support Workday business process configurations
  • Support business SME with security and data audit, corrections and ad-hoc reporting
  • Liaise with Workday regarding system issues, upgrades and outages
  • Maintain a good understanding of data configuration and data objects in Workday
  • Author documentation for Cenovus IT
  • Identify opportunities for improved business/functional performance and efficiencies
  • Available for after business hours support escalations in emergency situations
  • Responsible for Workday audits (quarterly and annual)
  • Collaborate with multiple business functions to deliver Workday systems enhancements including system functionality and reporting
  • Create and maintain condition rules and calculated fields
  • Develop requirements using interviews, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis of tasks and workflows
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, summarize low-level information into a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with business users to analyze informational needs and functional requirements to deliver the following artifacts as needed: Functional requirements reflected by Business Requirements Documents, Use Cases, Workflow Diagrams, Context Diagrams, GUI, Screen and Interface designs
  • Assist business users in developing process documentation that is consistent across teams, with a consistent review and update process
  • Create and run integrations via EIB loads


  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business and/or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of business analyst experience
  • 2 years of Workday experience (preferable HCM)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced work environment with dynamically shifting priorities and deadlines
  • Proven judgment, analytical, and business skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organization and time management skills
