Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Safety Test Technician / Engineer to join the team in Hull. This role will perform product assessments on a wide variety of different electrical devices to support CE marking as well as international certification schemes. Our new Technician / Engineer will assist and support both our technical teams and our clients.

This customer facing role will manage projects from start to finish ensuring key metrics such as on-time delivery and first time right are met.

Responsibilities

  • Performing tests and inspection in accordance with related standards
  • Develop understanding of key safety standards (EN 60950-1 etc.) and participate in relevant internal and external training to support development
  • Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment in accordance with Element procedures
  • Ensuring that test equipment and procedures are used and maintained correctly to ensure compliance with ISO 17025
  • Highlight when test equipment is out of calibration including review of calibration data as required
  • Ensuring technical and customer excellence is maintained through effective project management
  • Ensuring test records, test areas, test equipment and client equipment are maintained in accordance with ISO 17025
  • Prepare test report in accordance with laboratory and IECEE procedures
  • Assist with client enquiries and work schedules to ensure technical and customer consistency
  • Responsible for maintaining and developing training records to support personal development
  • Ensure that commercial confidentiality is maintained
  • Carry out any other reasonable duty as directed by the Operations or Department Manager
  • Perform testing on-site at clients or other Element facilities

Skills / Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Experience of working within a laboratory environment
  • Experience working with electrical standards, e.g. IEC 60950-1, IEC 61010-1, etc.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels including with customers
  • Passion for continous improvement and efficiency
  • Ability to plan, organise and manage workload in an efficient and timely manner
