Wainwright Health Centre is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with the peri-operative course for their busy surgical unit. This OR Nurse role acts as a patient advocate, providing a link between the patient care unit and the Operating Room. The Wainwright Health Centre provides extensive health care services including an active Acute Care, Emergency department, maternity, general medicine, the surgical department, and palliative care. Expectations: Provide perioperative patient care using the nursing process in accordance with CARNA, Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC), and CSA standards of practice. Deliver safe, effective and efficient care in roles including scrub and circulating, post anesthetic recovery of patients, and day surgery. Scheduled On-call after hours will be required.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of a Peri-operative Nursing course or equivalent experience. Ability to meet the physical demands of job required. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills as well as willingness to learn new skills as required. Completion of an accredited nursing education program.Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in an Operating Room in both the scrub and circulating roles. Recent experience in the post anesthesia recovery unit is preferred.
