The Mechanical Engineer (ME) provides chemical/mechanical engineering needed to deliver custom water/wastewater treatment systems as well as biological solids treatment systems (incineration and anaerobic digestion) to industrial and municipal customers. Working on a multi-disciplinary team, the ME ensures accuracy of design, timeliness of submittals, adherence to budget, and compliance with our quality procedures.

We design and supply a range of water systems, from food and beverage applications, to municipal water, to microelectronics ultrapure water and heavy industrial wastewater treatment. Our portfolio of technologies includes solids-contact clarification, membrane & media filtration, ion exchange, electrolysis, digestion, evaporation, ozone/UV disinfection and more.

As an ME, you have broad responsibility to develop engineering deliverables and coordinate with a project team. You complete design documents in concert with Process, Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls engineers, as well as various project support functions (Mechanical Design/Drafting, Document Control, Sourcing, Finance, etc). The ME works in a highly technical role; generating, checking or approving Piping & Instrument Diagrams, equipment drawings, equipment datasheets, plant and piping arrangements (via the Mechanical Design team), and design specifications. You support: vendor selection (for equipment such as pumps, blowers, compressors, chem feed systems, manual valves, tanks, strainers, etc) through technical bid evaluations; equipment fabrication; managing vendor documents; and ensure our suppliers are on track and performing. Finally, you are a technical customer contact, participating in project status updates, design reviews, as well as providing engineering support during installation and commissioning.

The ME requires a strong engineering foundation and is skilled at working across teams, communicating complex ideas and integrating systems. They are thoughtful, cooperative and creative, able to handle multiple shifting demands with professionalism and good judgement.


Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering field – Chemical, Mechanical, Civil/Structural or Electrical preferred
  • Five (5) years’ mechanical engineering experience

Useful skills or abilities:

  • Experience with industrial processes and system engineering – direct experience in water treatment, oil & gas, chemical or power preferred but not required
  • Impeccable planning, organization and time management
  • Strict attention to detail
  • Clear, concise communication skills
  • Team player, with the ability to exercise good judgement under changing conditions
  • Fluency in French may be useful
  • The role requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time
