Completes technical activities, including the troubleshooting of sophisticated equipment, leading investigation teams related to analytical problems, and participating in testing method development. Functions in laboratory units providing non-routine services such as Advanced Instrumentation, Drilling and Production Services, Central Corrosion and Chemical Evaluation and Geotechnical. Participates in internal and external auditing for ISO 17025 and other international standards. Maintains current knowledge of significant developments in the field of specialization and apply as applicable as well as applicable state-of- the-art laboratory instrumentation.
Visits plants, operating areas or construction sites as required to obtain information pertaining to assigned projects such as Water Compatibilities as they pertain to injection systems, desalter waste disposal, solubility of corrosion products and Scales and Geotechnical engineering interpretations of substrates.
Normally reports to unit supervisor but may report directly to the division superintendent.
Contacts all levels within the Petroleum Engineering, Engineering Services, Oil & Gas Operations and other departments for discussions relating to specific technical problems.
In Civil Engineering applications, has daily contacts with both Company Engineering principals and with contractor Engineers.
Serves as a team leader and participate in major investigative projects as required.
Performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested.
