The CRC Elk Hills Operations Team is seeking to fill a Geologist position to support our Elk Hills operations. This position will be in our Bakersfield, CA location and is eligible for a hybrid work from home schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Onsite and remote geosteering responsibilities related to ongoing drilling operations; Lead well planning and operations activities of evaluation program; Manage well data acquisition program and coordinate operations with site personnel
  • Integrate and interpret multiple geologic, geophysical and petrophysical parameters into a concise geologic model to develop assets
  • Responsible for the expansion and development of our existing oil plays, as well as the generation of new oil and gas prospects across the San Joaquin basin
  • Utilize surface and subsurface data to generate geologic models through log analysis and correlation, cross-section construction, stratigraphic analysis, geophysical / petrophysical analysis and strong mapping techniques
  • Expand and refine interpretations in existing plays and field; as well as generate new play concepts and rank within portfolio
  • Risk reduction thru application of appropriate advanced geologic analyses and technology (special log analyses, core description, rock mechanics, geochem)
  • Utilize paper, raster, and digital data sets with an expert ability to incorporate all data into a concise and defendable interpretation
  • Effectively utilize advanced geotechnical software tools (Petrel, StarSteer, OpenWorks) in the interpretation process
  • Convey technical findings through oral and written presentation to cross-technical teammates as well as senior management
  • Work in a collaborative multi-disciplined environment incorporating a wide variety of data from various sources to develop a team driven interpretation

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree from an accredited university or college with a degree in geology
  • Development drilling experience; familiarity with PETREL workflows
  • 3+ years of proven ability to incorporate geology and engineering data to determine development locations and reservoir evaluation

Preferred qualifications

  • Waterflood experience is a plus
  • Experience with regulatory reporting and permitting associated with Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program requirements
