BASIC FUNCTION SUMMARY

Leads complex operations during the drilling phase for the development of hydrocarbons, is responsible for the overall Safety of all personnel during tool running operations and the overall Quality of all tools being mobilized to the drilling site. Ensure highly-technical, advanced surface and downhole tools are properly employed at wellsite to ensure the Safety of all personnel onsite within their span of control.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Under limited supervision, and as needed, the Field Service Technician provides assistance to Shop Tool Technicians during maintenance functions such as repairs, assemblies and disassembly of equipment.
  • Leads personnel for tool assembly, repair and mobilization.
  • Performs essential pre-job assessment and host pre-job meetings with all personnel onsite who will participate in the Operation.
  • Provides daily updates to higher management and staff who support ongoing operations.
  • Performs mathematical calculations on Well construction and/or Downhole Service Tools as it relates to employing tools and products; these calculations are performed in advance and in real time as variables change.
  • Subject matter expert on the assembly of tools for jobs and the process/protocols for mobilization of tools, products and equipment.
  • Promotes safety awareness and environmental compliance and complies with all applicable safety, environmental and regulations laws/regulations.
  • Promotes and takes an active part in the quality improvement process; ensures and is responsible for all equipment preparedness on wellsite.
  • Recognize and communicates the need for additional tools and equipment while on location.
  • Ensures documentation of work is performed in a complete and timely manner on a daily / job basis, ensuring all documentation is properly archived.
  • Ensures all equipment/products have proper, current and complete work instruction and are signed; reports all discrepancies asap if discovered. Initiates non-compliance reports when non-compliance is realized.
  • Serves as a trainer when deployed, working with the training department and other subject matter experts.
  • Ability to learn and/or operate manual/wireless cement head on job location (land). Must have a working knowledge of Land Rig operations.
  • Ability to learn and/or run casing flotation devices (airlock tools). Ability to learn and/or run stage tools and packers.
  • Ability to learn and/or run Downhole Service Tools (Test and Squeeze applications).
  • Other duties as assigned by management. Due to the safety sensitive nature of this job, you are required to perform this job in a constant state of alertness.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the oilfield service as a Field Service Supervisor or Service Technician.
  • Cementing, running cement heads, and or downhole tool experience a plus.
  • The Field Service Technician should be self-motivated and have a willingness to learn.
  • Must possess a general knowledge of Well Construction and Downhole Service Tool applications.
  • Must have strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high paced work flow. Must be dependable and able to write in simple correspondence.
  • Must be able to communicated effectively and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Must exhibit a positive attitude during work performance.
  • Accept direction and constructive criticism in a positive manner; in turn, shares positive and negative feedback effectively with subordinates.
  • Available to work when needed and communicates with supervisor when conflicts arise.
  • Intermediate mathematical and measurement computations required.
  • Able to initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Able to interpret Company Health and Safety Procedures, Company Policy and Procedures, and Environmental Policies to workers.
  • Available 24 hours a day via mobile contact or email to respond to after-hours and weekend inquiries and emergencies from the field or other employer facilities.
  • Due to the safety sensitive nature of this job, you are required to perform this job in a constant state of alertness.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet employer’s driver eligibility requirements, passport/TWIC as needed, necessary employer training (ie completion of Field Training Milestone Sheet, Classroom Training, Well Control, Core Training, etc.)
  • PREFERRED live within 50 miles of the base location and have reliable transportation.
  • MUST be available at all times as this is a 24/7, 365 days a year on-call position.
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment screening (ie background, drug/alcohol, physical).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Proper lifting functional biomechanics should always be utilized. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. on level and unleveled surfaces as well as up and down stairs. Able to work from heights of over 6 feet. The employee must possess an upper-body downward pulling capacity of 70 lbs. The employee must possess a lower-body lifting capacity of 70 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus to see both near and far. The employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. Employee will be susceptible to decibel levels up to and including 104 dBs Hearing protection required when noise level becomes greater than 90 dBs. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel equipment; reach with upper extremities; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Employees are frequently required to climb many stairs. The employee is occasionally required to taste or smell. Work is outdoors in all climates.
