About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Field in Foster Creek the Contract Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of offsites activities while actively adhering to the Cenovus policies, safety, operating rules, schedule agreements, attendance guidelines, and government regulations. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks and have a strong technical understanding of instrumentation and electrical equipment. This is a 6 month contract assignment working a shift of 7 days on, 7 days off (rotating nights), 12 hours per day. Our Foster Creek facility is a remote, camp-based facility. Transportation is provided to the site from various departure points including Air service from Edmonton and Calgary and Bus service from La Corey.

  • Support maintenance schedule by preparing equipment for scheduled work
  • Conduct testing as required
  • Execute proper LOTO procedures and troubleshooting analysis
  • Initiate troubleshooting activities for all abnormal operational events and take corrective actions as necessary
  • Execute and support performance management
  • Conduct walkarounds, participate in informal LOTO, HSE safety audits, perform safety checks and audits
  • Monitor and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Execute business improvements by assessing opportunities and challenging the status quo in support of the asset’s overall operational targets
  • Elevate issues, opportunities and risks to appropriate decision-makers when required and to influence optimization and continuous improvement
  • Champion and drive the health and wellness of our people assets in support of Cenovus’ safety culture and values

Qualifications :

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Minimum 5 years’ Operating experience
  • Relevant experience in cyclic steam or SAGD thermal recovery heavy oil operations would be an asset
  • Preference given to those holding a 4th Class Certificate
  • This role is a safety-sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the Cenovus Drug and Alcohol policy which includes pre-assignment testing
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
  • Possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
