The Opportunity:

Are you seeking an opportunity to demonstrate and develop your Advanced Process Control Engineer skill set? If so, this is an incredible opportunity where you will be responsible to provide regular support in the area of process control and interfacing with DCS. The Advanced Process Control Engineer will be responsible to provide regular support in the area of process control and interfacing with DCS.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of your assigned upgrading process control areas by implementing and maintaining basic, intermediate, and advanced level process control strategies
  • Work closely with end-users and train on the effective use of systems by assisting in the simulation, modeling and optimization studies of the units
  • Generate ideas for improvement projects, including measurement of benefits and development of project cost/benefit analysis
  • Promote a safe working environment by practicing good housekeeping in offices, shops, and process areas by attending team, department, and cross functional meetings
  • Interface with team members to ensure timely delivery of activities and on-going improvements by ensuring daily activities are performed in a safe manner as per codes, regulations, standards and best practices
  • Assist in developing, reviewing and updating procedures and standards as required

  • Job Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Eligible for relocation to Calgary, Edmonton or Fort McMurray
  • Company sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out Program with charter flights from Calgary or Edmonton
  • This is a safety sensitive position
  • Shift schedule: 4 Days on 3 Days off Monday to Thursday

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of direct experience in oil upgrading and/or refining industry as process control/applications engineer, preferably in oil sands facilities
  • Experience with SMOC (Shell Multivariable Optimizing Controller) or Yokogawa pace is preferred
  • Formalized education and/or hands on training with process control systems, DCS and PLC systems and plant information systems is essential along with experience with process simulation software (HYSYS) is preferred
  • Exceptional communication, strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills, proficiency with office and industry specific PC applications
